Tahiirah Habibi: Sommelier & Entrepreneur
Throughout her career, Tahiirah Habibi has embodied audacity, and long before it became a buzzword. An esteemed sommelier, Habibi blossomed in South Florida where she opened the prestigious St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, then took her talents to Michael’s Genuine in Miami. Seizing the opportunity to fill the diversity void in the wine space, Habibi pivoted to entrepreneurship and founded Hue Society, a nationwide initiative focused on advancing commerce, building community, and curating culturally relevant wine experiences with Black and Brown heritage at its center. Most notably, Hue Society celebrates the intersection of wine and culture through its annual event, The Wine & Culture Fest--a community of 1 million-plus--that’s supported by luminaries like Tina Knowles, James Beard Foundation, BET, and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, to name a few.
Habibi has been instrumental in bridging the intersection of wine & culture that bring her community along the way and integrate her pioneering work in the industry. In 2020, she co-founded The Roots Fund, a non-profit organization that creates educational pathways, financial assistance, and career opportunities for Black and Indigenous in the wine industry.
A change agent, Habibi has graced the cover of Wine Enthusiast as the first Black woman in their 2020 40 Under 40 list and has been featured in publications like Imbibe Magazine, VinePair, and Vogue, among others.
